Is branded merch really worth it?

Short answer: yes. 

Merch is one of the most engaging marketing tools you can find. You aren’t asking your client for anything in return - just giving them gifts, and who doesn’t like gifts?

The importance of marketing

Marketing is the core of building trust with your market. It’s a great way to engage customers,  spread awareness of the brand and get people to start talking about you. There are so many ways for a company to market their products - you can do it through video ads, leaflets, social media and so much more. A way to create a long lasting impression is branded merchandise  - promotional merchandise conveys your brand straight into your customers' hands.

Branded merchandise is an investment - yes, but it doesn’t always require a big budget. The simplest things can also go a long way! You can go for something as simple as custom stickers, which are fun and will still make a big impact. We got ours from StickerMule, who made us some great vinyl stickers. Some other suggestions are also pens, which are often passed around a lot and can spread the brand name from person to person. Notebooks and water bottles are perfect for everyday use and will definitely leave a lasting impression. Tote bags and caps are always useful too and will display the brand name to the world when being used. The list is endless…

People often buy from brands that they have already heard of, but why?

Buying from a known name brings a sense of comfort, and a feeling of trustworthiness. They feel safe and usually don’t have to think twice about it. 

Some tips

  • It’s better to invest a little more and get a good quality product in order to leave a better impression on the client. Quality over quantity is always best.
  • Think of your clients needs and interests, there are some things that are pretty much universal but if you can get merchandise that meets your clients specific needs and represent you and your business, you’ll leave an even better impression!
  • You can do a giveaway with some higher budget merchandise, which will also get some social media engagement.
